The College of Architecture at Kuwait University organized an exhibition showcasing the final projects for the Communication 2 course, under the supervision of Dr. Youssef Al-Haroun. The students presented a collection of works reflecting the development of their skills in architectural drawing and visual innovation.
The Communication 2 course focuses on enhancing students’ abilities in architectural visual expression through manual and analytical drawing techniques. This contributes to refining their design language and developing tools for architectural communication.
The final project required students to select a renowned or influential architect, explore their design philosophy and aesthetic approach, and then reinterpret it visually by designing a scarf inspired by the Hermès brand. Hermès was specifically chosen due to the architectural touches and deep artistic compositions in its designs, making it an ideal platform for experimentation and integration between the worlds of drawing and architecture.
The final projects reflected the students’ ability to merge architectural thinking with artistic expression. The results were diverse and bold, demonstrating a deep understanding of each architect’s distinctive features and successfully translating them into visual symbols drawn with precision and elegance.
The exhibition showcased high potential in visual composition and opened new horizons for students to innovate unconventional methods of architectural communication. Dr. Al-Haroun described it as "an important step in developing the students' creative sensibility and enabling them to connect architecture with broader cultural and aesthetic contexts.
