About the Program

Interior architecture is a technical specialization primarily focused on the design and development of a building's interior spaces. This field emphasizes the rehabilitation and structuring of buildings, turning existing structures inside out for functional adaptation. Often a part of sustainable architecture practices, it involves preserving the resources, materials, and the historical, cultural, and social value of existing buildings. Additionally, this specialization addresses construction expansions and methods for preserving historical buildings of all types.

Vision

The Faculty of Interior Architecture firmly believe in training students to become leaders and innovative designers. We aspire to instill in our students a lasting creative impulse and a sense of social, cultural and environmental responsibility.

Mission

The Interior Architecture program will provide students with rich and diverse knowledge and skills in design sustainability, human factors, building systems, visualization, history, theory and criticism. Equipped with such knowledge and skills, our graduates can pursue a career in the professional practice of interior architecture.

The College of Architecture at Kuwait University, established in 2010, comprises two main departments. The Department of Architecture, founded in 1997under the College of Engineering and Petroleum, and the Department of “Arts and Design,” which began in 2003 under the College for Women, later renamed the Department of “Communication Design and Interiors.” This establishment marked the College of Architecture as Kuwait's first institution dedicated to specializing in architecture and design, with a focus on nurturing and advancing these fields within the country.
